Most Orlando homes pay $252 to $395 to pump a septic tank. The average is about $323, according to Angi in May 2026. The City of Orlando puts a pump out at $250 to $400. Tank size, buried lids and access change the final price.

ServiceTypical Orlando price
Septic tank pumping$252 to $395

Drain field installation$5,000 to $12,000
New conventional system$3,225 to $6,635

We are not the cheapest septic service near you. Our price is fair, and it never changes once we start. Your quote depends on what we find. A tank with lids two feet underground costs more to open. A tank full of grease takes longer to pump.

FOR HOMEOWNERS

Residential Septic Services and Maintenance Plans

Most of our work is residential septic service for Orlando families. Our residential septic system services cover pumping, repairs and yearly checks. Septic tank maintenance in Orlando, FL works best on a set schedule. A maintenance plan keeps your tank healthy and stops the surprise bill. As your septic tank maintenance company, we set the schedule and send you a reminder.

Each plan visit includes:

  • Scheduled pumping based on your tank size and household.
  • Effluent filter cleaning so solids stay in the tank.
  • Baffle check to make sure the inlet and outlet are whole.
  • Drain field check for wet spots, odor or surfacing water.
  • A written report with photos you can keep for your records.

What Happens During a Septic Pump Out?

A proper pump out takes more than a hose and a truck. Here is how our crew does it:

  1. We find the tank and uncover the lids.
  2. We measure the sludge and scum layers.
  3. We pump both compartments with a vacuum truck.
  4. We check the baffles and clean the effluent filter.
  5. We walk the drain field and look for trouble.
  6. We give you a written report with photos.

How Often Should Orlando Homeowners Schedule Septic Service?

The EPA says to inspect a septic system at least every 3 years. Most tanks need pumping every 3 to 5 years. Systems with pumps, floats or alarms need a check every year. A large family or a garbage disposal means you may need to pump sooner.

We do not guess. We pump when sludge rises within 12 inches of the outlet. We also pump when scum sits within 6 inches. Together, these layers should never fill more than 25% of the tank.

CENTRAL FLORIDA CONDITIONS

Why Do Septic Systems in Orlando Need Extra Care?

Septic systems in Orlando, FL face three local problems: sandy soil, a high water table and heavy summer rain. Together they can flood a drain field fast. A system that works well in a dry state can struggle here. Smart upkeep matters more in Central Florida.

Sandy soil

Much of the area sits on Myakka fine sand, Florida's state soil. In wet months its water table can rise within 10 inches of the surface.

Heavy rain

Orlando gets about 51 inches of rain a year. Most of it falls in summer.

Big storms

Hurricane Ian dropped more than 14 inches on Orlando in 2022. Lake Eola spilled over its banks. Hurricane Milton brought 14.83 inches to west Orlando in 2024.

Springs and drinking water

Groundwater supplies about 90% of Florida's drinking water. Septic tanks cause 29% of the nitrogen reaching Wekiwa and Rock Springs.

Limestone below

Porous limestone lies under the sand. That is why sinkholes form here, like the famous 1981 Winter Park sinkhole.

Is heavy rain bad for my septic system?

Yes. Heavy rain can soak the drain field until wastewater has nowhere to go. Cut your water use and stay off the drain field. Wait for the ground to dry. Never pump a flooded tank, because an empty tank can float out of the ground.

FLORIDA RULES

What Is the New Septic Law in Florida?

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection has set the state's septic rules since July 1, 2021. Since July 1, 2023, new systems in protected springs basins face stricter rules. Lots of 1 acre or less must use sewer or a nitrogen reducing system. Orange County added a repair rule in 2025.

Who sets the rules

FDEP's Onsite Sewage Program, under Chapter 62-6 of the Florida Administrative Code.

New systems

In springs basins, small lots must connect to sewer when it is available. If not, they need an enhanced nitrogen reducing system. This comes from HB 1379.

Repairs near Wekiwa Springs

Since March 1, 2025, some repairs trigger an upgrade. It applies to lots under 1 acre in Orange County's Wekiwa and Rock Springs zone. The new system must cut nitrogen by 65%.

Working systems

A system that works and has no open permit does not have to upgrade.

Who Issues Septic Permits in Orlando?

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County issues septic permits and inspects the work. Its main office is at 6101 Lake Ellenor Drive in Orlando. A second office opened at 475 Story Road in Ocoee on August 3, 2026. Seminole County permits go through the health office in Sanford.

Can You Get Help Paying for an Upgrade?

Yes, in some areas. Orange County's Septic Upgrade Incentive Program pays up to $10,000 toward an enhanced system. It covers homes in the Wekiwa springs zone in unincorporated Orange County. Sewer must not be planned there within 5 years. We can help you check if your home may qualify.

Do I Have to Switch From Septic to Sewer?

Only when public sewer reaches your street. Florida law then gives you 1 year to connect. Orange County's Septic 2 Sewer program is converting homes near Wekiwa Springs. Owners pay about 10% of the cost over 10 years.

FOR BUSINESSES

Commercial Septic, Lift Station and Grease Trap Service

Restaurants, offices, churches, schools and HOAs need steady septic care. Commercial systems handle far more water than a home. A missed pump out can close a kitchen or flood a parking lot.

Lift stations push waste uphill when gravity cannot. We repair their pumps, floats and alarms. Grease traps in commercial kitchens fill fast and need regular pumping.

How Do You Choose the Right Septic Company in Orlando?

Choose a septic company registered with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. Not all septic companies in Orlando, FL are registered. It should give a written quote and explain what the pump out includes. Read recent local reviews. Florida does not require a septic inspection when a home sells, so buyers must ask for one.

You may search for septic companies near me or compare septic system companies near you. Either way, ask these five questions before you hire.

  1. Are you a registered septic tank contractor in Florida?
  2. Will I get the price in writing before you start?
  3. Do you pump both compartments of the tank?
  4. Will you check the baffles, filter and drain field?
  5. Will you pull the permit if the repair needs one?

A good local septic company will answer all five without pause.

How Long Does a Septic System Last in Florida?

Many septic systems last about 30 years with regular pumping and care. Skipped pump outs shorten that life. Old concrete tanks can crack, and baffles can wear out. Watch for slow drains, odors, wet spots and the need to pump more often. See septic tank installation and replacement.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions About Septic Service in Orlando

Call (321) 872-9877 →

Who Services Septic Tanks in Orlando?

Registered septic tank contractors service septic tanks in Orlando. Florida requires contractors to register with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. They pump, repair and install systems under county health department permits. Always ask for the registration number before work starts. You can check it on Florida's septic contractor search.

Do You Offer Same Day Septic Service in Orlando?

Yes. We offer same day septic service across Orlando and nearby towns when you call early. Emergencies get a crew any time, day or night. Tell us what you see and your ZIP code. We will give you a time window and a clear price.

How Do I Know If My Orlando Home Has Septic or Sewer?

Check your utility bill first. City of Orlando sewer shows up on your OUC bill as a sewer charge. Orange County Utilities customers can call 407 836 5515 to ask. No sewer charge often means septic. A green patch or lid in the yard is another clue.

Can a Septic Tank Go 20 Years Without Being Pumped?

It can sit that long, but it should not. Most tanks need pumping every 3 to 5 years, per the EPA. After many years, solids spill into the drain field and clog it. A clogged drain field costs far more to fix than a pump out.

What Size Septic Tank Does My House Need?

Tank size depends on how many bedrooms your home has. Florida's minimum is 900 gallons for a home with up to 3 bedrooms. Larger homes need 1,050 or 1,200 gallons or more. Older Orlando homes may have smaller tanks than current rules require.

Can I Take a Shower If My Septic Tank Is Full?

Try not to. A full tank cannot take more water, so a shower can push waste back into your drains. Cut water use to the basics. Skip laundry and the dishwasher. Call for a pump out before you run water again.

Does Homeowners Insurance Cover Septic Repair?

Usually not for normal wear or a lack of pumping. Some policies cover sudden damage, such as a tree falling on the tank. Every policy is different. Read your policy or call your agent. We can give you a written report to send to your insurer.

What Should You Never Flush Into a Septic Tank?

Never flush wipes, even ones marked flushable. Keep out grease, diapers, coffee grounds, cat litter, paint and harsh chemicals. These items clog pipes or kill the bacteria that break down waste. Only toilet paper and human waste belong in the toilet.

Can You Drive or Park Over a Drain Field?

No. Cars and trucks crush drain lines and pack the soil tight. Packed soil cannot soak up wastewater. Keep vehicles, sheds and pools off the drain field. Plant grass over it, not trees, because roots can break the pipes.

Can a Homeowner Install Their Own Septic System in Florida?

Yes, but only on a single family home you own and live in. Florida law lets you skip contractor registration in that case. You still need a permit and an inspection from the county health department. Most owners hire a registered contractor to avoid costly mistakes.
